Leading the Charge: Top AI Virtual Staging Companies of 2025

by Dario Rinaldi February 14, 2024
written by Dario Rinaldi

Employing AI to perform virtual staging: A simple idea that has garnered a vast number of advocates throughout the world in no time. It has, at least in theory, so many advantages over traditional home staging and manual photo editing; factors that have helped it quickly gain widespread recognition as the future of virtual staging.

In recent years, several real estate photo editing companies have emerged, and some of them have been quite successful. Here is our list of top AI virtual staging companies that comprise the best choices in 2025.

Top AI Virtual Staging Companies in 2025

With virtual staging becoming one of the new trends in real estate marketing and artificial intelligence having a finger in every pie, it’s only logical to expect a lengthy list of websites that allow for online virtual staging with rapid AI-generated results. We took our time and checked quite a few of these websites to bring you a useful list.

To ensure that only the best platforms were selected, we uploaded the same photo (of an empty bedroom) to each platform and asked them to stage it in a modern style.

To help you get a better picture of how well these virtual staging services performed, we’ve included the original photo and the edited one in each case.

AI HomeDesign

After creating an account on AI Homedesign, you can upload your photos and stage them according to your preferences. Select the room type, choose from a variety of design styles, and wait for 30 seconds. That’s all you have to do to get a high-resolution photo that leaves the best impression on every viewer!

Almost all AI virtual staging companies do the same thing, but the way they do it makes all the difference. AI HomesDesign, like other platforms in our list, stages your rooms in a matter of seconds. However, the variety of design styles it covers is somewhat exceptional. For a single room, it can generate hundreds of designs, giving you the freedom of choice.

Another special feature of AI HomeDesign is its unmatched pricing. The Pro Plus plan of AI HomeDesign demands $50 for 500 credits, which will give you 170 virtual staging generations. That’s a measly amount of $0.30 per photo. You can also use AI HomeDesign for item removal, image enhancement, interior design, and more.

Virtual Staging AI

As claimed on their website, only five people are behind Virtual Staging AI. And if that’s true, we’ve got to give them credit for what they’ve done. You will get three differently-staged photos for every single photo you upload there. The quality is much better than many similar platforms, and the pricing is good, too. Below, you can see the same bedroom staged by Virtual Staging AI in around 30 seconds!

ApplyDesign

ApplyDesign is another virtual staging company that has proven itself a great aid to real estate agents and photographers. If you want to stage your bedroom, kitchen, living room, or office, ApplyDesign is a good choice. Still, it’s not suitable for other services such as interior design, image enhancement, or item removal.

Unlike other AI virtual staging companies, ApplyDesign takes 6-10 minutes to stage our bedroom, but the end result seems quite satisfactory.

Dreamhouse AI

Another company that has recently launched an AI home staging website is Dreamhouse AI. The platform is suitable for home design and virtual staging services. It provides 10 free credits to first-time users, all of which can be spent on one project. For a single room, you can create 6 renders at once to see which design style suits your room better.

When it comes to design styles, Dreamhouse AI provides over 30 styles under two main categories, namely, classic and worldwide. Take a look at the final staging result it staged and judge for yourself!

Gepetto

Another Platform that employs artificial intelligence to perform virtual staging is Gepetto. Pretty much like other AI virtual staging platforms, you only need to select the room type and design style and then get a virtually staged room. After creating an account on Gepetto, you can generate 7 photos for free.

Gepetto has found its way to our list of top AI virtual staging companies for two reasons. One, it offers 20 design styles, which is quite a lot! As you know, most platforms offer 5 or 6 design styles on average. Two, it has an app that iPhone lovers can download and use for the same purpose. It is highly user-friendly and makes virtual staging an enjoyable experience. Here’s the same bedroom staged by Gepetto.

5Final Considerations

Before closing our discussion, two points should be kept in mind. First, Google suggested a dozen websites for “AI virtual staging,” but a good number of them didn’t simply have this feature. Thus, they were readily excluded from the list above.

I also came across a couple of websites that didn’t stick to the norms of virtual staging. That is to say, they did more than furnish the room, e.g., replace the window, change the color of the walls, etc. Such changes fall under renovation or interior design, and that’s why they, too, have been excluded from the list. I hope you found this article informative and helpful in your decision about the best AI virtual staging companies in 2025.

FAQs

Is AI virtual staging the future of home staging?

For the time being, we cannot say for sure if it will be the common practice in the future. AI has just recently found its way to home staging and needs more time to prove itself. We should wait a bit, maybe for two or three more years, to see how the general community of home buyers and real estate agents appreciate it.

What are the main advantages of AI virtual staging?

The two main advantages of AI virtual staging are time efficiency and cost-effectiveness. AI virtual staging takes less than a minute (per photo), and it is much cheaper than traditional virtual staging done by graphic designers.

Are AI virtual staging apps cheaper than online platforms?

On the surface, AI virtual staging apps might seem cheaper, but the regular updates they demand are not always free. Also, in many of those apps, the quality is not as good as online platforms.

Maximizing Property Appeal: The Gift of Virtual Staging for Realtors

by Tan Tason December 19, 2023
written by Tan Tason

Who would ever say no to a service that’s been made more affordable, accessible, and rapid? It’s a no-brainer, isn’t it? Well, that’s how virtual staging found its way into the real estate industry and exactly how it has become a common practice in real estate visual marketing.

But bringing you quick services that are available at all times for reasonable prices can go so far. It falls on you as the user to use an efficient service like virtual staging to its full potential. In the following, we’ll brush up on three crucial notions you need to observe when using real estate virtual staging for your properties.

Going Virtual: The Alternative to Home Staging

It was at the turn of the century – when photo editing and 3D imaging had just taken root – that virtual staging was born. The idea was simple: To shoot vacant properties and stage them in a digital space. What was in virtual staging for realtors? Well, it was way cheaper and quite fast, and it allowed potential customers to see the property in multiple designs at the same time.

Improvements in an instant: Time to trust AI

Just as more and more realtors were beginning to appreciate the value of home staging via digital and virtual means, artificial intelligence (AI) was injected into every business around the world. The outcome? Virtual staging that traditionally used to take up to 2 hours per room, was now done by AI in 30 seconds! Thrilling news for realtors, indeed! But there are things to consider here, too. Add AI to the mix, and the most considerable advantages of virtual staging for realtors will be:

  • Time-efficiency
  • Cost-efficiency
  • High level of variety
  • Enhanced appeal

It may be discouraging for a lot of people to trust AI with their daily tasks, but the truth is AI has witnessed great developments in recent years, and it’s capable of delivering quality work.
If you are a realtor, you’re definitely aware of how virtual staging, or its energized AI version, works, but you still need to try it once or twice and assess its true value.

Look for the best tool

A cursory look on the internet will tell you that there are hundreds of companies that offer virtual staging services. So, you can’t just dive into the first one you come across.

Take your time and make a list of the best virtual staging platforms you can find and test them one by one. Keep in mind to check their virtual staging pricing and refund policy, too.

With a thorough search, you’ll soon find a good platform that designs your rooms with amazing precision for a fair price. While there are considerable advantages in virtual staging for realtors, there are also important parameters they should observe to get the best results.

Be and stay honest

When listing the advantages of virtual staging, we mentioned “enhanced appeal” as one of the benefits. Those images on listing sites draw buyers’ attention and give them every reason to visit the property in person.

However, it’s best that you let potential buyers know the rooms are virtually staged. Regardless of using AI or not, customers need to know they’re looking at an image of a possibility and not the real thing. Otherwise, they can even sue you for misleading them or fraud.

If you’re open and honest with clients, when they visit the property, they know that they’re not gonna see the exact same design. Virtual staging is a legal practice allowed in all states as long as you, as the agent or seller, inform house hunters that the rooms are digitally decorated.

Home Staging: Merits and Drawbacks

In 1972, Barb Schwarz coined the term “home staging,” and that concept has been around, in one form or another, ever since. Like any other human invention, there are two sides to home staging, too. You need to swallow the good with the bad; the beautiful with the ugly.

So now that we’ve discussed the paths you should take for utilizing virtual staging as a realtor, let’s take a look at its merits and drawbacks.

Advantages of virtual staging for realtors

  • Reveals the full potential: Empty rooms blur one’s imagination somehow while a well-staged home lets potential buyers appreciate the true potential of the property. This makes a world of difference in how many visitors a property has each day and, for that matter, how long it’s going to linger in the market.
  • Sells faster: Perhaps it cannot be said about each and every staged house but in general, staged homes sell faster than the unstaged ones. Why is it so? Well, house hunters visualize themselves in the staged property and feel more connected to the property compared to when it is vacant. That’s why staged properties don’t linger much in the market.
  • Justifies the price: Staged homes sell for a rather higher price than unstaged ones. Letting potential buyers get a better picture of the property is not the only reason that realtors prefer staged homes. That’s just what we see on the surface. To understand the other reason, an analogy might help here.
  • Encourages the buyer: If you want to buy yourself a T-shirt, you would probably want to try it on in the fitting room first. When you do so, you know how much you’re willing to pay for it. That small room in the corner of the shop is the magic box that turns you from a bypasser into a buyer.
A staged room serves the same purpose as the fitting room. Only, it’s bigger! When buyers step into the property, they immediately decide whether they want it, and the price does not scare them off that easily.

Drawbacks of virtual staging for realtors

But as the metal band Poison said, “Every rose has its thorn.” Despite all its merits, home staging in the traditional form has been criticized on several grounds. Here are the main criticisms:

  • It’s costly: One disadvantage of home staging concerns its high costs. Basically, realtors must rent the furniture from a staging company. They remain in the house as long as the property is waiting to be sold and this might last for months sometimes. When the house is finally sold, the price for renting the stuff is calculated which could range from $1,500 to $4,000!
This is a considerable amount that not many realtors are willing to pay. But, that’s not all. We haven’t yet talked about the risks involved.
  • It’s risky: What would happen if some of the rented stuff is damaged? What if there is a robbery or housefire? Clearly, under such circumstances, the realtor is the one who must pay for the loss. So there is always a constant risk involved in traditional home staging. One that can turn a seemingly lucrative deal into a disastrous one.
  • It’s restrictive: Another drawback of traditional home staging is the restriction it brings along. Each home can be staged in just one style and potential buyers can see it in that one style only. This means that some visitors may not like the property, merely because they don’t like the way it has been designed/decorated.
dining room virtual staging dining room virtual staging

Final Thoughts

The drawbacks discussed above lead the stakeholders to seek other alternatives. Something that has the same merits, but is clear of all those issues. Virtual staging has dominated the field, and it has been on the rise for the past few years. Now that AI has joined the game, it will probably gain more popularity among realtors. The limited statistics on virtual staging tell us that it is the future of home staging, and we have every reason to believe so.

The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Best AI Item Remover for Flawless Object Removal

by Tan Tason November 5, 2023
written by Tan Tason

The year was 1994. I was enjoying my 10th birthday with some friends in a somewhat secluded park. It was the loveliest evening in late spring. Somewhere among all the screams and excitement, we found the fortune of coming across a traveling photographer and had our photo taken. Only one! It cost $4 and turned out to be a great one.

Everybody loved it except Savannah, who thought a rogue pine cone in the background ruined the photo. “It’s like the pine cone is hanging from my ear,” she kept repeating. We put our minds together to find a way to remove it, and, in our brilliant collective wisdom at 19 – 19 as 90s kids – we came up with nothing better than a tiny drop of detergent that sure wiped out the cone, along with Savannah’s entire head!

The photo never looked the same – nor did Savannah’s mood for the entire evening – and I realized later that what we were looking for had just been born. We were too young to revive that Lustre paper that meant the world to us, right?

Welcome to the New Age: Benefits of AI Item Removers

Availability

The good thing about online AI item removers is that they are available all the time, and for that matter, to everyone. You don’t need to possess distinctive skills or use the most advanced laptops or smartphones to remove items from your photos.

Some item removers are in the form of apps that work on almost any smartphone, and others can be accessed via the Internet, allowing for permanent online use.

Time-efficiency

This advantage of AI has been brought up countless times. Yet, it’s a reality that cannot be ignored. Removing objects from photos with artificial intelligence takes a few seconds; that’s right, seconds! Not even a full minute. This is a huge change from traditional item removal, which would take one to a few hours, depending on the person doing the job.

Restoration and preservation

Although the main function of AI item removers is removing unwanted objects in photos, they can also assist in restoring old photos. Not many users know that AI item removers can eliminate scratches, dust, or other imperfections on old photos that have been damaged one way or another.

User-friendliness

Create an account, upload the photo, remove whatever you don’t like, and download the photo. That is how it works with most AI item removers. The hard part is done by your genius artificial companion. You’re just there to enjoy the swiftness, efficiency, and precision.

Our Verdict

Naming only one app or platform as the best AI item remover is neither possible nor justifiable. Some websites work well with portraits, while others are best suited for editing photos of real estate, apparel, jewelry, etc.

Depending on the type of photo you have, you can pick the best AI item remover from our list. To guarantee the best result, keep in mind to try the “pro version” of these tools. You may have to loosen the purse strings a little, but you’ll thank me later.

FAQ

Is there any AI item remover that I can use for free?
Of course! Some of the websites listed above allow free item removal but in limited quantity. Bear in mind, though, that some of these free versions also leave a watermark in your photo.
Can an AI item remover remove multiple items from an image at once?

AI HomeDesign allows for both one-by-one and holistic item removal. As for other websites, they only allow for one-by-one item removal.

Do AI item removers preserve the quality of the image after removing the item?
It depends on what app or platform you’re using. There are lots of similar tools that drastically affect the quality of your photo, but the ones listed in this blog preserve the quality. And if you use their pro version, you’ll get the highest quality there is.

Image Enhancement Revolution Driven by AI: Transforming Pixels

by Salar Davari October 29, 2023
written by Salar Davari

For a while now – and by while, I mean well past a year – there have been talks about a major paradigm shift in the realm of photo editing; one that has been immensely affected by artificial intelligence and discussed under a broad topic conceptualized as the image enhancement revolution by AI.

Sounds like a major change to some while others haven’t yet fully grasped the idea. Let’s take a moment, shall we, to examine the latest trends in real estate image enhancement and see how AI-powered platforms are prepared for a real real estate image enhancement.

Read More: Real estate photo editing

Image Enhancement Techniques: Complete Overview

The question here, thoguh, is how image enhancement is done. What changes are applied to those pictures? In what order are they applied? And is it possible to follow a one-size-fits-all recipe for all images?

The image enhancement revolution by AI hasn’t happened overnight. The data preparation stage requires gathering lots of images and then applying multiple changes to them. Seemingly an arduous task that’s made quite effortless and magical once your down with the development stage.

White balancing

A typical photo needs several modifications to look its best, and one of the first modifications in image enhancement is white balancing. White balancing, in simple terms, means adjusting the color temperature so that the image looks more natural.

Removing unrealistic color casts and adding to the whiteness of white walls and roofs to make them brighter are two common practices in white balancing.

white balancing after

Shadow removal

The next step is to remove unwanted shadows that darken the photo. Using certain software such as Photoshop or Luminar, unwanted shadows can be removed so that our photo looks brighter and more beautiful.

Color grading

Color grading is a well-known image enhancement technique that modifies and improves the colors in your photo. In doing so, the hue, brightness, and saturation – which refers to the density of color in the image – undergo a certain level of modification, giving the picture an amazingly appealing look.

Super-resolution enhancement

In certain cases, a real estate photo has poor resolution. This might be due to improper ISO, aperture, exposure, or a combination of the three. In such cases, super-resolution enhancement is the best treatment.

This involves creating a copy of a poor-resolution image with doubled linear resolution. To put it another way, the enhanced image will have twice the height and width of the original photo. In terms of pixel count, the enhanced image has four times as many pixels as the original photo.

Tone adjustment

Tone adjustment refers to the process of altering the tonal values of an image to achieve a desired look or to correct any exposure or color imbalances. It usually involves manipulating the brightness, contrast, and overall tonal distribution of the image. The right tone gives a highly inviting feel to the photo.

De-noising

In terms of photography, noise is a distortion that looks like grainy patterns or irregular specks in images. It is the result of high ISO, compression, or low light.

After identifying noise in a given image, the editor employs a neural network, much like the neurons in our brains, to reconstruct the affected part. To do so, it relies on various noisy and reference signals provided by the software.

Window-related modifications

When there are windows in the photo, extra changes are in order. There is a major difference, in terms of exposure to light, between the two sides of the window. Usually, what is beyond the window is not clearly observable because of the light on that side.

By increasing the color of the objects beyond the window and reducing the light, the picture looks much nicer, and you can achieve absolute homogeneity in the photo.

HDR bracketing

In cases where there are several photos of the same place and from the same perspective (but with different exposures), HDR bracketing is the way to go. Merging those photos, the photographer/editor obtains the best possible final look for a single photo.

Distortion removal

Distortion, in simple terms, refers to the degree of skewness in images that are usually caused by imperfections in camera lenses. It is interesting to note that all images, no matter the lens quality, are to some extent distorted because of:

  • The way the camera sensor reflects the image;
  • The amount of refracted light; or
  • Natural curvature in the lens.

Note: To fix distortions or waviness that are visible to the naked eye, AI systems employ Spacial Transformer Networks (STN) and restore the lighting to its original state.

Developing AI Systems for Image Enhancement

If you want to know only one thing about AI systems, you should know that they are highly data-dependant. Without data, artificial intelligence is anything but useful.

Although there are nuances to be considered, well-structured data-feeding is the key to the success of the image enhancement revolution by AI. By providing AI systems with good examples of images (especially before/after images) and properly tagging them, they learn to recognize low-quality images and turn them into stunning ones. Here’s how it’s done.

Developing AI Systems for Image Enhancement

Data gathering & data tagging

To create a strong database, hundreds of thousands of real estate images are gathered and classified. The engineers then train the model to apply the modifications explained above ( one modification at a time).

In doing so, through trial and error, the system learns to remove shadows, adjust tones, etc. In the end, when the system has learned to simultaneously apply all these modifications to a real estate photo, it’s ready to be tested.

Putting the system to the test

Every AI system is prone to making mistakes at first. This is also true about AI systems that are trained to perform image enhancement.

When a system fails to apply the desired changes to a given photo, the errors it encounters are recorded in its memory so that the developers can work on those errors and eventually remove them.

Retaining AI models for image enhancement

Generally, any AI-powered image enhancement website may encounter two types of problems discussed below:

  • Technical website issues: Imagine you’ve uploaded a photo to an online service and clicked on “Generate” for enhancement. The result? Nothing happens or you get the same photo without any changes applied to it. What’s the reason here? Quite probably, a technical issue has occurred with which the programmers should deal. In such cases, AI engineers should step aside and let the website developers deal with the problem.
  • New input for the website: What happens when a user uploads a photo from a snow-covered house, but the website hasn’t been trained to identify, analyze, and enhance such photos? Well, as image enhancement is mostly concerned with improving the brightness of photos, the system may still do a good job of enhancing the brightness, but that new element in the picture will leave its mark somewhere.

In such cases, AI engineers start gathering and tagging new data to feed to the system. When the system is sufficiently equipped, it should be entered into a testing phase to examine its performance regarding such images.

With some errors, it might take an hour or two for the developers to help the system overcome the problem. At other times, the system may need months to operate properly. Anyhow, this trial and error phase is repeated over and over until the system shows outstanding performance.

Why Real Estate Image Enhancement

It’s truly affordable

Listing a property has its fair share of costs. As far as marketing the property is concerned, ai image enhancement is one of the most affordable means to elevate the quality of showcasing your property. Instead of paying a fortune to get your property filmed or photographed, you just need to shoot some photos and enhance their quality on a smart, online platform that is powered by artificial intelligence for as little as $0.5 per photo.

It highlights the selling points

Let’s say you have a small pool in the backyard with the gentle shade of trees and colorful flowers surrounding it. This is a great selling point whose very idea is always nice, wouldn’t you say? But if you took a hundred pictures of the place, there’s the possibility that something is always missing.

One time, the sky above is too depressing. At others, the scorching sun gives an unwanted burning feel to the environment, or the trees might not look as lively as they should.

Enhancing the quality of your property images will wipe away such features, and the property will look its best, hence highlighting the selling points.

It attracts more buyers

The bright shiny pictures shared on online listings provoke a strong feeling in the viewers that this property is the one. By viewing those high-quality pictures, they are tempted to visit the place and have a closer look. This opportunity will definitely improve your chances of selling the property in a shorter time.

It promises a better deal

After taking a good look at those photos, buyers check the price considered for the house. When they like the property so much that they decide to visit it in person, it means they are more likely to pay the considered price. Therefore, those stunning images will help lower the financial guard of buyers and allow you to put a slightly higher price on the property.

What’s the Verdict?

Clearly, training an AI model for image enhancement is a demanding job. Months of hard teamwork is inevitable, and even after launching the model, constant supervision and improvement are absolute necessities.

Benefiting from the knowledge and expertise of more than 40 website programmers, real estate photo editors, graphic designers, and AI engineers, we have prepared the best AI-powered platform where you can enhance your real estate photos with the highest possible quality.

FAQ

How does AI-driven image enhancement compare to traditional methods in terms of time and efficiency?

As far as efficiency is concerned, it is safe to say that AI-driven image enhancement is much more efficient than traditional methods since there is much more variety here.

Time-wise, the two methods are not comparable at all. Real estate image enhancement used to take hours to complete, but now, it’s only – and truly – a matter of seconds.

Can AI preserve the original artistic intent and style of the photographer?
Of course. AI image enhancement changes the look (brightness, color, etc.) of a real estate property, It does not change the essence or its style.
Does shooting a property for image enhancement need any special skills?
Not really! The only thing you should keep in mind is to shoot the interior when it is decluttered and has enough light. AI will take care of the rest.

Virtual Staging Statistics: A Comprehensive Dive into Costs, Sellers, and Buyer Perceptions

by Dario Rinaldi October 24, 2023
written by Dario Rinaldi

Counting the benefits of a given act or tool is what each and every person can do, but assessing the true value of things is only possible through analyzing statistics on said act or tool. That’s why, every now and then, we should keep our peace, look at things objectively, and let the numbers do the talking. In this blog, we’re gonna put virtual staging on trial.

Why Look for Virtual Staging Statistics?

Virtual staging statistics help us in several aspects. On the one hand, it gives us a clear picture of how the community perceives the virtual staging service. On the other hand, it lets us know if it’s really the best practice or if we should seek other alternatives. Last, but not least, it allows advocates of virtual staging to find the weak spots and come up with plans for improvement.

The Profile of Home Staging 2023

As far as real estate marketing is concerned, a property must look highly appealing to potential buyers so that it remains on the market for only a short time, and for that matter, sells for a higher price. No matter how many fixes or major renewals a for-sale property needs, it must be improved, prepared, staged before it is listed. In fact, one could argue that “staging” is an inseparable part of any home transaction.

In an attempt to assess clients’ and agents’ beliefs on the value of home staging, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) obtained data from 1,921 realtors. The findings have direct and indirect implications for real estate virtual staging. Let’s take a look at some of the statistics that NAR has published in its 2023 profile of home staging.

Different Modes of Property Showcasing

Different Modes of Property Showcasing

One line of NAR’s profile of home staging was concerned with comparing different methods of staging the property. Participants were asked to share their opinions on the importance of five variables, namely, photos, videos, virtual tours, virtual staging, and traditional physical staging. Overall, the following results were obtained.

  • %51 of buyers’ agents and %72 of sellers’ agents reported that their clients put the greatest value on photos compared to other means of depicting the property (in comparison with videos, physical staging, etc).
  • Also, %26 of buyers’ agents believed that, to their clients’s minds, photos were as important as other means of depicting the property, while only %17 percent of them thought of photos as less important.
  • Regarding “traditional physical staging,” %25 of buyers’ clients reported that their customers considered “physical staging” as the most important tool while %33 of them stated that their clients viewed traditional physical staging and other ways of showcasing the property as equally important.
  • Interestingly, %29 of them, that is almost one-third, reported that their clients considered traditional physical staging to be less important than other common means used for real estate listings.
  • When asked about the importance of “virtual staging,” %18 of buyers’ agents reported that their clients considered “virtual home staging” the most important factor.
  • %31 of buyers’ agents, along with %24 percent of sellers’ agents, reported that their clients saw virtual staging as important as other means of representing the property.

This is quite an improvement for the practice of virtual staging as, in NAR’s earlier reports, it wasn’t considered important enough to be included in the research questions. As virtual staging is a much younger practice than other means of showcasing real estate, we can assume that, within time, it can potentially gain much more attention.

I know! Seeing staged photos and visiting an empty place could prove challenging. When buyers visit the property in person and see something different from what they’ve come across in photos, their passion will be dampened, and they may not like the place.

But, we can’t generalize this. Some of the visitors would certainly take a tour, and who knows if one of them falls madly in love with the house! This is more probable if you know about the buyers’ favorite styles and stage your property according to their taste.

The fact that %25 percent of buyers’ agents valued “physical staging” is interesting, too. Seems like its high costs and maintenance issues are more unbearable than ever, especially now that there are less expensive alternatives.

Virtual Staging: Which Rooms Should You Stage?

Given that virtual staging is much less costly than physical staging, you won’t have to worry too much about the financial aspect of virtual staging. Even so, you might, for any reason, decide to stage only some of the rooms.

In doing so, you should prioritize the rooms that matter the most to buyers. Well, we can here rely on the available statistics on home staging which are as follows:

  • For %39 of home buyers, the living room mattered the most;
  • %36 of buyers believed that the primary bedroom was more important than all;
  • %30 of them held the idea that the kitchen should be staged.

Based on this information, if you want to virtually stage your home, you should prioritize the living room, the primary bedroom, the kitchen, and the dining room over other spaces. However, as virtual staging is an expensive service, you might want to do it all in one go and stage the entire house for best results. The table below shows the importance of staged rooms in from the viewpoint of home buyers.

Virtual Staging Statistics: The Financial Aspect

You may know this already. There is no set pricing policy for real estate photo editing companies to follow. As a result, there is a big difference between the prices they charge for virtual staging. The table below is a good example of the vast discrepancy in virtual staging costs (per photo) in 2023.

The Magic That is AI HomeDesign

What we discussed above and what all the numbers point to in this field are the impactful trends of various media and practices of visual marketing in the real estate industry.

Now, if we consider all these visual marketing practices as the cake, one is sure to look around for the icing. This is where we arrive at AI-powered visual marketing practices that are taking the real estate industry by storm!

That’s right. Artificial intelligence has penetrated the real estate industry, particularly its visual marketing practices, through its integration with various services, namely virtual staging ai, ai interior design, ai item removal, ai image enhancement, and day to dusk transformations.

Through the automation of numerous intricate implementations and techniques, the omission of time-consuming manual human labor, and the removal of numerous upkeep costs in different aspects, AI-based real estate visual marketing has dramatically cut costs to prices under a dollar and instantaneous turnaround times.

It’s quite a change from the usual practices of real estate marketing, especially home staging and virtual staging that are both time-consuming in their own right. Thus, it’s recommended that you try it for yourself.

In Conclusion

Many have already fallen in love with virtual staging. Given that it’s been around for only a few years and the fact that it is not properly understood by home sellers, we can expect a much better appreciation of it in the next few years.

Virtual staging is the quickest and most affordable means of depicting a property in the housing market. We love it for that, and you should, too!

FAQs

In which countries is virtual staging more common?
Virtual staging is most common in the United States and Canada. It’s also becoming popular in the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, and Singapore.
How does virtual staging affect the marketing process?
Virtual staging, especially virtual staging AI, needs a smaller marketing budget. On the other hand, it takes much less time than traditional staging, allowing for faster listing of the property.
Can virtual staging be used for commercial real estate as well?
Virtual staging is a common practice in marketing residential real estate but it could also be used to market commercial real estate. Bear in mind, though, that research suggests that with commercial real estate, videos are preferred.

The Day AI HomeDesign Launched on Product Hunt | Preparations, Tips, and What Lies Ahead

by Salar Davari October 18, 2023
written by Salar Davari

Yesterday, the community that has so far supported AI HomeDesign was brimming with excitement! It was a weekend to remember, and remember it I certainly will!

As my watch ticked its way to 10:30 PDT, the entire community was supercharged with energy, and, as the 24-hour window began, I launched AI HomeDesign on Product Hunt!

Recounting Our First Product Hunt Experience

It was AI HomeDesign’s first launch on Product Hunt ever. And no matter how much I had prepared for the last couple of weeks, the day expectedly turned into a rollercoaster of emotions.

Four hours in the dark

The first four hours – the time when the votes are concealed – flew by. Busy with predefined assignments, I had my hands full, balancing workloads between daily routines and launch-specific tasks.

Those four hours were filled with unrelenting notifications both on my cellphone and PC as messages flooded my inbox in an outpouring of support from various individuals who have had my back along this journey.

Out in the open

As the votes became public, the competition became fierce! Sometimes, I’d witness a spike in upvotes and feedback, rising through the ranks while my happiness grew. At others, AI HomeDesign’s logo would drop down right before my eyes, taking my hopes down with it.

I spent endless hours communicating with numerous individuals, trying my best to spread the word across many platforms, notifying friends, colleagues, and acquaintances about AI HomeDesign’s launch on Product Hunt.

As I left the office, prioritizing various tasks and joking with a friend about working overtime, AI HomeDesign was in 10th place.

Time for bed

I called it a night after AI HomeDesign had passed the 100 upvotes mark – though still placed at 10 – immensely thankful to all those who had so far lent their assistance.

To be honest, I slept quite well. It wasn’t the end of the world, after all! Yet, the excitement persisted, and with barely open eyes, I’d reach for my cellphone every couple of hours or so, eagerly refreshing AI HomeDesign’s Product Hunt webpage for any changes.

Last few hours…

The biggest surprise of the entire event for me – and probably one of its most important lessons – came the morning after.

Waking up and heading back to the office, I witnessed a gradual but steady spike in AI HomeDesign’s upvotes, keeping the competition well and alive. By the time I stepped into the workplace and sat behind my desk, AI HomeDesign had already reached 8th place, and, to my satisfaction, less than an hour before the end of the first 24 hours, AI HomeDesign secured rank 7 and finished the competition among Product Hunt Top 10 of the Day!

24 Hours Worth a Year of Experience!

It all happened in the window of 24 hours, a small part of which I was asleep. But without a grain of doubt in mind, the experiences I accumulated on this occasion will tag along for years to come.

A robust community is a must

Let’s begin with an issue that’s sort of a given: Your community is by far and wide your most valuable asset.

Long gone are the days when a product and a campaign would seal the deal. All you have is your community and your community only. Without the ongoing support of those who helped spread the word (or dropped by to vote and leave the feedback), AI HomeDesign would finish on a lower rank.

Time spent building a reliable community – with a robust foundation based upon genuine interaction and trust – is an invaluable investment. The significance of such a community is twofold. Not only does it create social capital that serves you in the long run, it brings about its proverbial ROI from various aspects, some of which you don’t even know until they happen.

Follow through to the very end

Launching AI HomeDesign on Product Hunt was indeed a rollercoaster ride as mentioned above, and one of the most profound lessons I learned was the importance of following through to the very end. As the saying goes, “It ain’t over till the fat lady sings!”

The excitement of the initial launch was intense, and the first few hours passed like a blur. However, as I recounted, it was in the subsequent hours that the real challenge began. It’s easy to start strong, but the key to success lies in maintaining that momentum.

The lesson here is clear: Persistence pays off. Throughout those 24 hours, I constantly monitored our product’s rankings, actively engaged with the audience, replied to comments, and addressed questions.

It’s not enough to launch and hope for the best; you have to stay dedicated and determined. My experience of barely hanging on the 10th place to be comfortably placed in the top 10 of the day reinforced the idea that the journey doesn’t end when the clock runs out. It’s about seeing a project through to the very end, and sometimes, that’s where the magic happens.

Surprises happen when you least expect them!

I don’t remember the exact time I was informed, but during all the hype and the flood of tasks that just kept coming, I received a call from a friend who had come across AI HomeDesign’s logo on X.

Apparently, someone looking to remodel his kitchen had found AI HomeDesign’s AI Interior Design service useful. Who was he? None other than Product Hunt’s very own founder, Ryan Hoover!

This tool launched on Product Hunt today:https://t.co/PIgyz9QuDk

Here are a few of the results I generated.

(and now I want to do a complete remodel) https://t.co/9Jjz6jPfdl pic.twitter.com/0btFnxnBaK

— Ryan Hoover (@rrhoover) October 15, 2023

Ryan had mentioned his intention to remodel his kitchen on October 5 and had asked his X community for some ideas about a suitable app. Out of pure coincidence, AI HomeDesign launched 10 days after his tweet.

Hyped up, I read his tweet, and with a recharged spirit and motivation – as well as a sigh of relief – I resumed my tasks!

Ask for help where help is needed

There’s no way to beat around the bush: Sometimes, all you do isn’t enough. The AI HomeDesign Product Hunt launch taught me the immense value of reaching out for assistance when it’s needed. Apart from the incredible community that rallied behind the project, many close individuals aided me with the daily tasks so that we could see the entire event through: A testimony to the project’s potential that garnered people’s willingness to collaborate.

As stated, the support I received took various forms, from individuals voting for the product to providing valuable feedback, spreading the word, and activating their communities for more assistance.

This experience highlighted that in our interconnected world, people are often willing to support a project they believe in. Don’t hesitate to ask for help, whether it’s from friends, colleagues, or the broader community. This journey illustrated the impact of collective efforts and the power of building a strong support network around your project.

Product Hunt discussions matter

Product Hunt discussions are a game-changer. Engaging with the Product Hunt community, addressing questions, and actively participating in conversations about various topics – not just AI HomeDesign – made all the difference during our launch.

Doing so, I could positively influence our product’s reception. It wasn’t just about getting votes; it was about fostering meaningful dialogues with potential users and PH community members. These conversations not only created a positive image for the product but also provided invaluable insights.

The discussions on Product Hunt matter because they help you create credibility, connect with people, learn from them, and build a reputation for your project. The takeaway here is that success on Product Hunt isn’t just about your product; it’s about your active involvement in the discussions around it.

Don’t overlook the tagline

One of the lessons that became crystal clear during the AI HomeDesign Product Hunt launch was the significance of a well-crafted tagline. Apart from the logo, and with the absence of upvotes in the first four hours, your tagline is the first – and only – thing potential users see. Thus, it’s essential to make it catchy, clear, and engaging.

In the rush of preparing for the launch, this all-too-important detail can be easily overlooked, but trust me, it makes up a huge part of the first impression you make on the Product Hunt audience.

A compelling tagline can significantly impact the initial engagement with your product. It should succinctly convey what your product does and why it’s valuable. Your tagline is your elevator pitch on Product Hunt, and it can determine whether users click through to learn more or keep scrolling. So, never underestimate the power of a well-crafted tagline. Spend time refining it, ask others to evaluate it, and ensure it conveys the essence of your product in a way that captures attention and interest.

Prepare early and efficiently

When it comes to launching on Product Hunt, preparation is the key to success. It’s not just about the 24 hours of the launch itself but the weeks and even months leading up to it. AI HomeDesign’s Product Hunt launch highlighted the importance of preparing early and efficiently.

From creating engaging visuals and crafting a compelling tagline to building a supportive community and fine-tuning the product, early preparation made all the difference. I realized that a well-thought-out launch strategy, including pre-launch marketing and garnering initial interest, set the stage for a successful launch day.

Efficiency in execution was equally important, as juggling work responsibilities and launch-specific tasks demanded careful time management. The takeaway is clear: start preparing for your launch well in advance. Plan every aspect, create a checklist, and ensure you have everything in place before the big day. Efficiency in execution will help you maintain momentum during the launch and give your project the best chance for success on this competitive platform.

Time to Plan Ahead

In the whirlwind 24-hour journey of launching AI HomeDesign on Product Hunt, numerous lessons were learned that are valuable not only for this specific endeavor but for any ambitious project. As the dust settles and AI HomeDesign secures its place among the Product Hunt Top 10 of the Day, it’s evident that planning ahead is not just a recommendation; it’s a necessity.

In conclusion, the launch of AI HomeDesign has imparted invaluable lessons that extend beyond this particular event. To achieve success in any venture, but more particularly on Product Hunt, numerous factors come into play. The most important elements at this stage were building a strong community, maintaining persistence, seeking assistance, engaging actively in relevant discussions, and crafting an engaging tagline, all of which should be part of your strategic planning.

AI HomeDesign’s very first story on Product Hunt serves as a testament to the power of foresight, determination, and community support, reinforcing the importance of planning ahead in any ambitious project.

Cost-Benefit Analysis of Virtual Staging: A 2024 Comprehensive Review

by Dario Rinaldi October 15, 2023
written by Dario Rinaldi

As a transformative tool in the real estate industry, virtual staging allows properties to be presented in their best light without the physical constraints of traditional staging. With today’s advances in technology and the competitive nature of the real estate market, understanding the costs and benefits of virtual staging can help agents, home sellers, and buyers alike.

This comprehensive guide will walk you through the benefits, possibilities, and stories associated with virtual staging in 2024.

First Things First: What Is Virtual Staging?

Virtual staging in real estate involves using digital tools and software programs to create computer-generated images of interior spaces. Unlike traditional staging, which highly depends on the physical arrangement of furniture and décor, virtual staging uses software to give a realistic view to these photos of empty or sparsely furnished rooms.

With its fast modification quality according to the target market’s preferences, this digital staging approach offers a high degree of customization and flexibility. Cost Benefits of Virtual Staging: Time, Money & More!

Virtual staging is always compared to traditional staging in cost, time, and effort. And there is a good reason for that since all these elements, directly and indirectly, can significantly impact property sales.

The effort aspect: Sweat and tears

Compared to traditional staging, virtual staging makes significant changes in property sales with much less effort in two ways:

  • Enhancing property presentation: By creating visually appealing images, digital staging highlights a property’s potential and makes a space look more inviting and functional. The quality and efficiency of virtual staging help potential buyers envision themselves in the home and reach the final decision faster.
  • Increasing appeal to potential buyers: Through virtual staging, high-quality, professionally staged images will stand out in online listings and can attract more buyers. The more views one property gets, the more potential it will have to get offers.

The time aspect: Save more to earn more

One of the main features of virtual staging that make it stay head and shoulder above traditional staging is how real estate agencies and home sellers use advanced virtual staging tools and software programs. That is why virtual staging is always “faster” in defining its services compared to traditional staging:

  • Faster sales: Properties that are digitally staged often sell faster and at higher prices compared to those that are not staged. Less Time saver on the market for properties. According to research by Redfin, virtually staged homes sell a staggering 73% faster than vacant homes due to enhanced visualization capabilities, increased property visibility, heightened buyer interest, and a surge in the number of offers received.
  • Simple listing process: Home listing will be smoother and more cost-efficient via virtual staging. You can have a deal with a real estate to arrange for professional real estate photography or snap some photos yourself with your smartphone. With a company like AI HomeDesign, you can transform your photos into professionally staged visuals within a mere 4-8 hours.

The financial aspect: The bottom line

Besides the speed and efficiency of virtual staging, the cost makes up a significant share of the benefits of virtual staging service.

  • Higher price sale: According to the above-mentioned survey by Redfin, virtual staging can sell up to 73% faster than those without, staged homes generally command higher prices. This potential of virtual staging provides a cost-effective way to achieve this outcome.
  • Low service cost: Traditional staging costs from $1,500 to $5,000 per room. In comparison, virtual staging cost is a small fraction of the cost of traditional staging. For example, virtual staging costs as low as $24 per image in agencies like AI HomeDesign.
  • Fixed-rate: Virtual staging companies usually have a fixed rate per image basis, offering transparency and ease of budgeting. For example, at AI HomeDesign, the rate per photo is $0.24.
  • Not bound to geography: The traditional staging cost highly depends on the local real estate market and the property. However, virtual staging offers a fixed price no matter where you are located.

How Much Does Virtual Staging Cost?

When evaluating the benefits and expenses of virtual staging, it’s important to consider the variety of costs involved.

Initial costs

The initial costs of virtual staging typically include the expenses you pay for software and tools, as well as professional service fees.

  1. Virtual staging software: Virtual staging costs will vary in price depending on the kind of subscription models or per-project charges. The basic virtual staging service might be anywhere between $100 to $200 per room. For more advanced options, these numbers can reach up to $500 per room or more depending on the complexity and level of detail you require.
  2. Professional services: Many real estate agents or property owners choose to outsource virtual staging companies for consultations, image preparation, and multiple rounds of revisions. On average, you might pay between $200 to $500 or more for these services depending on the provider and project scope.

Ongoing costs

Your property may become a matter of ongoing costs if you intend to:

  1. Remain on the market for an extended period: You may wish to update the virtually staged images to reflect current trends or changes in the market. These updates may typically cost between $50 to $100 per room.
  2. Maintain a library of digital assets: You may wish to involve some specific digital assets such as furniture and décor images, and it may involve subscription fees or licensing costs. These virtual staging costs can vary depending on the level of access and the number of assets you require for your property staging.

Who Pays Virtual Staging Costs?

There is no written real estate rule stating exactly who is responsible for paying for home staging. However, the cost of virtual staging highly depends on the situation and the agreement between the parties involved. For example,

  • The seller can be responsible for covering the cost of virtual staging as part of their efforts to market and sell the property.
  • The real estate agent or brokerage may be responsible for covering the cost of virtual staging as part of their marketing and advertising efforts.

In rare cases, clients, that is the buyers, can also be responsible for covering the virtual staging cost. This happens if the buyers ask for virtual staging as an extra service (if available) to evaluate the potential of a property in various ways. Real estate agents can offer virtual home staging services as an add-on service.

Is Virtual Staging Worth the Cost?

Various surveys, reports, and testimonials highlight how virtual staging can be beneficial in the real estate industry. For example, according to Forbes, staged homes sell for 87% faster and 17% more, increasing the average home’s sale price by 17%. This means that a house sells faster with a higher return on investment.

Another survey of buyers’ agents for NAR’s 2021 Profile of Home Staging shows how virtual staging significantly impacts buyers’ perceptions. ‍As mentioned before, through virtual staging, buyers can envision the property as their future home. Buyers are more likely to physically visit the property after seeing it staged online.
On the other hand, home staging, as a general requirement, resulted in a 1-5% increase in property value and a substantial decrease in the properties’ days on the market (DOM).

Your Place in the Sun!

Virtual staging has emerged as a powerful tool in the real estate industry and offers a cost-effective and impactful way to present properties. Real estate professionals, agents, and property owners can make informed decisions that enhance property presentation and drive sales by understanding the costs, benefits, and successful stories of virtual staging. As speed and cost matter more in today’s continuously advancing world, we can witness how the real estate industry’s approach to virtual staging has changed, thanks to its efficiency and various benefits.

FAQs

How much does virtual staging cost?

The cost to virtually stage a home will depend on:

  • Initial costs: These include the expenses for virtually designing photos.
  • Ongoing costs: These include the price for editing, updating, and adding special digital assets if need be.
Who pays for virtual staging?

There is no written rule about it! Real estate brokerages can pay for the staging of each listing. Sometimes, real estate agents pay for the service out of pocket. It is also an option for homeowners to pay for virtual home staging.

The Interior Design Revolution Powered by AI: Reshaping Spaces

by Salar Davari October 11, 2023
written by Salar Davari

Wherever tradition and technology meet, new frontiers are explored, and innovations blossom. At first, people panic and speak ill of such unorthodox unions. Yet, with time, the skeptics begin to adjust to the new reality and celebrate the change.

This is exactly the story of mobile phones, rock music, the internet, and, to give you a more recent example, the interior design revolution by AI that stunned architects, interior designers, graphic designers, and, more than anyone else, real estate agents.

AI-powered generative design tools can create customized home interior designs as required by the homeowner. Following this, an AI-based “inspection” tool can evaluate the design, identify the parts that can be improved, and make suggestions accordingly. This way, AI ensures that the resulting outputs enjoy the same level of aesthetics and ergonomics. But how are these models trained to perform such tasks?

Training AI Models for Interior Design Tasks

Developing AI models for interior design purposes requires some hard work. Carry on down bleow for a brief overview of how it’s done.

Data collection

The first part of preparing any interior design AI model involves collecting data. As far as interior design is concerned, the data is primarily, if not only, restricted to photos of different rooms of houses or apartments. This may sound oversimplified, though, as thousands of photos are needed for every room, and for that matter, for every style, so as to ensure that the model will be rich in terms of data.

To give you an example, if we want our model to properly design a living room with the “modern style”, we need to feed it with at least a thousand photos of living rooms designed in that style. Now, imagine how many room types we have and how many design styles there are!

Organizing the data

When we’re done collecting the data, it’s time to organize them so that our model understands them better. This means that we should remove unwanted or tricky details and add all the necessary information that would help our model to learn well and have the best performance.

Feeding the model

After organizing the data, we can feed our model. This means that we give it all the photos we’ve got and tell it what type of room and which style each photo shows. In doing so, we’ll tag each and every photo so that our model can differentiate photos that belong to different categories, such as a bedroom versus the living room or the modern style versus a specific type of farmhouse style. This is commonly referred to as data tagging, which makes up the core of data feeding because if we tag the photos incorrectly or insufficiently, our model will malfunction.

Training the model

Following the old school traditions where teachers would ask the questions and answer them too, training an AI model for interior design involves asking it a question, giving it a picture, and then answering the question, telling the model what type of room or style it shows.

In a sense, we could say that training takes place at the same time we’re feeding the model. But, how can we make sure that our model is properly fed, or in other words, has learned its lessons?

Testing the model

As every type of training follows some kind of testing, our model’s performance should be assessed and evaluated, too. One way to do this is to give the model a number of photos, and then ask it to design each photo with a certain style.

From the way it performs the tasks, we could tell if it’s properly trained or not. If we determine that it’s working properly, then we could put it to use; if not, we need to take the necessary steps to refine it.

Refining the model

It’s wishful thinking and only too unrealistic – if not impossible – for an AI model to show flawless performance as soon as the training phase is done. Some issues just don’t show up till the very last moment, and that’s when we realize there’s a lot more work to be done.

There are two primary reasons why AI models make mistakes. It’s either due to 1) having insufficient data, or 2) improper tagging. Whatever the reason, the training phase should be repeated until we are satisfied with the performance of our model.

The Integration of Generative AI and Virtual staging

Using neural networks, generative AI models identify the hidden patterns and structures within the data we give them and then generate new content based on those patterns and structures. The content may be in the form of text, codes, images, videos, etc.

As far as virtual staging is concerned, our data is real estate photos. Plenty of them! In order to make these models work, we need to give them thousands of real estate photos so that they can easily:

  • Identify the patterns
  • Classify the furniture
  • Categorize the room types
  • Learn the design styles

By labeling the items in the pictures, as well as defining the room types and design styles, we can teach AI models how to identify each room/item and differentiate it from other items.

In the process of training the AI models, they learn how to extract important features (feature extraction) from every single photo we give them. They will then learn how to combine those features to produce unique real-life photos that go perfectly well with the patterns and styles identified in the dataset.

What Paved the Way for AI Virtual Staging?

In today’s competitive real estate industry, in which variables run free – sometimes of their own accord – several factors have paved the way for the emergence and success of AI virtual staging.

Tech and data, front and center

One such factor is the advancements in artificial intelligence technology that have provided the necessary tools and algorithms to analyze and interpret vast amounts of visual data.

Also, the availability of large-scale datasets encompassing diverse interior design styles and furniture arrangements has played a key role in training AI models for virtual staging.

Expensive virtual staging services

Yet another rewarding aspect of virtual staging AI is the price difference it has caused in the market. Prior to the advent of AI in virtual staging, real estate photo editing companies used to charge something between $9-$79 per photo. This has been reduced to $0-$20 thanks to AI. That’s right!

A platform such as AI HomeDesign doesn’t charge a cent and doesn’t even attach watermarks on the photo when you download them.

A real need for speed…

But perhaps, the most noticeable aspect of the recent virtual staging revolution by AI is the speed with which AI stages various spaces. What used to take several hours to complete, is now done in less than a minute, and for that matter, with outstanding quality.

The combination of these factors, along with the drive for automation, has created a fertile ground for AI virtual staging to thrive and revolutionize the way spaces are showcased.

Virtual Staging Revolution by AI: The Real-World Impacts

Apart from time efficiency and cost reduction, which we discussed above, AI virtual staging will have two immediate implications:

Contributing to real estate agents’ independence

Up until the recent past, real estate agents had to work closely with photographers and graphic designers to get a few virtually staged photos to list a given property.

Now, they can photograph the properties using their own cell phones and get those photos staged on AI-powered websites. As a result, real estate agents are finding themselves more independent and their pockets less emptied!

Challenging real estate photo editing companies

Real estate photo editing companies are being seriously challenged by AI. We’re not just talking about virtual staging. AI is capable of delivering almost all the services that real estate photo editing companies are currently providing. If such companies don’t adopt AI-powered tools, they won’t last long in the market.

Overcoming Challenges posed by AI virtual staging

Every coin has two sides, as the saying goes, and this virtual staging revolution by AI is no exception. Nonetheless, of the many possibilities that AI skeptics have meticulously listed, one calls for a bit of attention.

Data-feeding bias: The challenge of inadequate training Data

As previously discussed, the foundation of any AI model, including those used in virtual staging, lies in the training data it receives. This crucial phase involves exposing the AI system to a diverse array of examples, allowing it to learn and make accurate predictions. However, the quality and quantity of training data can significantly influence the performance of AI-powered virtual staging platforms.

quantity matters

One of the primary concerns when dealing with AI-driven virtual staging is the quantity of available data. If the dataset used for training is limited in size or scope, it can lead to what is commonly known as data-feeding bias. In practical terms, this means that the AI model may not possess a comprehensive understanding of various room types, styles, or interior designs. For instance, if the training data predominantly comprises living rooms, the AI model may excel in virtual staging for living rooms but fall short when it comes to other spaces like bedrooms, kitchens, or bathrooms.

limited diversity

Another aspect of data-feeding bias relates to the diversity of the training data. Suppose the dataset primarily consists of specific interior design styles, such as modern or minimalist, while neglecting others like traditional or eclectic. In that case, the AI model may struggle to adapt to the wide-ranging preferences and tastes of potential clients. This lack of diversity can result in virtual staging solutions that cater only to a narrow subset of the market, limiting their overall utility.

Addressing data-feeding bias

To overcome the challenges posed by data-feeding bias in AI virtual staging, a proactive approach is essential during the development and training phases of the system:

  • comprehensive data collection: AI developers must invest in gathering a diverse and extensive dataset that encompasses a wide variety of room types, styles, and interior design elements. This comprehensive dataset should represent the broad spectrum of possibilities that clients may require for virtual staging.
  • continuous learning: AI models should be designed with the capacity for continuous learning. This means they can adapt and improve over time as they encounter new data and challenges. Regularly updating the training data with the latest trends and design variations can help mitigate the bias introduced by static datasets.
  • client-centric approach: Developers should prioritize a client-centric approach by considering the specific needs and preferences of virtual staging clients. Customization options within the AI system can allow users to fine-tune virtual staging results according to their individual requirements.

Data-feeding bias is a significant challenge that AI-powered virtual staging platforms must address. By ensuring that training data is both abundant and diverse and by implementing mechanisms for continuous learning and customization, developers can create AI models that excel in meeting the demands of a broad and discerning clientele.
